Sailing Guide · Turkey 2026

Where to sail your
wooden yacht in Turkey.

The Turkish Aegean and Mediterranean coast offers 1,500km of sailing. Each region has a distinct character, wind pattern, and season.

The meltemi — Turkey's dominant summer wind — blows from the northwest, typically June through September. Strongest in the northern Aegean (20–35kn), lighter in the south (5–15kn). It dies at night and builds through the day. Plan passages for early morning departures.
Bodrum Peninsula & Gökova Gulf
The heart of Turkish gulet country

Bodrum is where the gulet tradition was born. Gökova Gulf, Mandalya Gulf, and the Bodrum coast offer crystal water, dramatic scenery, and dozens of uninhabited anchorages accessible only by sea.
