Surveying in Bodrum: marinas, haul-out and local points
The Bodrum peninsula is where charter yachts, gulets and large motor yachts share one coastline. Yalıkavak berths superyacht-sized boats; Turgutreis and Bodrum town see more mid-size sailing and motor yachts.
Where boats are hauled
| Marina | Travel lift | Dry storage |
|---|---|---|
| Milta Bodrum Marina | 75 t | 50 boats |
| Yalıkavak Marina | 260 t and 100 t | 140 boats |
| D-Marin Turgutreis | 100 t; 40 t trailer | 150 boats (10,000 m²) |
Capacities as of September 2026. Send the marina the boat's weight and beam in writing before booking. All marinas are in the marina and boatyard directory.
What we look at closely here
In summer the northerly strengthens in the afternoon, so sea trials are run in the morning. Travel lift slots fill early in season, so the haul-out is booked at least a week before the survey date.
Common requests
In Bodrum, a survey is often the last step of a purchase decision: the boat has been found, the price discussed and the contract made subject to survey. At that stage A and B findings in the report go straight into the negotiation. For buyers searching in the area, a remote pre-assessment is also often requested; reviewing listing photos and documents shows whether the boat is worth a visit.
Planning
There is no travel charge in the Bodrum area. On ex-charter boats, moisture around deck hardware, rudder bearings and heavily used heads and water systems get particular attention. Delivery distances and fees are in the route table.
Harbours that take yachts
| Harbour | Depth | Berthing and facilities | For yachts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Akyarlar harbour (Bodrum) | 3 m | Sheltered; 25 yachts. Water and electricity; usually full of local and trip boats. | Draught up to about 2.5 m. |
| Turgutreis harbour (Bodrum) | 3 m | 13 yachts; hard to find space in summer. Care is needed entering in rough weather. | Draught up to about 2.5 m. |
Only harbours that take yachts are listed; places suited only to small boats are left out. The draught limit allows about half a metre under the keel at the shallowest berth; a length limit is given where the source states one. Space varies by season, so call the harbour operator before arriving, especially in summer. The afloat parts of a survey can be done in these harbours; the underwater hull needs a separate haul-out.
Service, parts and logistics
Trades and service
Bodrum's marina yards and the region's gulet builders provide a wide network of wood, GRP, engine and electrical trades. General jobs such as machining, welding, hydraulic hoses and upholstery can be done in the city's industrial area.
Parts, materials and accessories
Chandleries are common in the area; specialist parts come from İstanbul or abroad.
Travel and logistics
Milas-Bodrum Airport is close, and a ferry runs to Datça. Bodrum is one of Turkey’s strongest yacht service and hardstanding areas; almost any part and expertise is found on the peninsula or fast from İstanbul.
Repair planning
If you want a recommendation for repairing a finding, we can suggest trades; the work is invoiced directly to you, and we never sell repairs on a boat we surveyed. If a repair depends on parts, the lead time is added to the haul-out and delivery schedule.
