When you plan a survey or a refit, the choice of marina matters more than most people expect. Where the boat lies decides all four at once: can she be lifted, how far are the trades, how many days for a part, and how do you get there.
This page compares the marinas in the regions we work, along those four lines. It is not marina advertising; it shows where a job will be easier and cheaper to solve.

Five Things to Weigh When Choosing
1. Lifting and timing
For moisture readings to mean anything the boat must stand ashore, dry, for at least a week. If a survey happens at a marina with no lifting, the hull assessment goes into the report as a limitation. Travelift slots tighten at the end of season, October to November: plan the survey date around time spent ashore, not around the lift-out day.
2. Proximity to trades
Once findings exist, the work goes to a contractor. Bodrum, Marmaris, Fethiye, İzmir and Tuzla cover nearly every discipline. Places like Kaş, Finike and Didim handle basic work, but advanced jobs mean moving the boat or bringing people in, both cost money.
3. Parts and materials
The same part arrives within one to two working days in İzmir and in three days in Kaş. When planning a refit that difference goes straight into the schedule. For special orders, rigging terminals, non-standard valves, electronics, supply through İstanbul or İzmir is fastest.
4. Access and logistics
For foreign buyers, distance from an airport matters: Göcek and Antalya are strong here, Kaş and Didim are further out. Attending the survey is not always necessary, but anyone who wants to be aboard for the sea trial should factor that travel in.
5. Cost structure
Marina pricing separates clearly by region and season. As a general pattern Göcek and Yalıkavak sit at the top, Didim and Finike at the lower end, with Bodrum, Marmaris and Fethiye in between. The gap widens for wintering and long-term berthing. When you decide, look not at the berth fee alone but at lift-out + hardstanding + getting trades there.
Marina Notes from a Survey Point of View
| Situation | What is done |
|---|---|
| The marina does not lift boats | A nearby yard is coordinated, or the hull assessment is written into the report as a limitation. The choice is left to the buyer, never hidden. |
| The boat has just been lifted | The moisture survey waits. Less than a week ashore makes the reading meaningless. |
| The marina does not admit outside contractors | Not an issue for the survey itself; it affects scope and cost at the repair stage, and should be known in advance. |
| Not enough wind for a sail trial | In very sheltered bays such as Göcek the trial moves outside the gulf. |
| Marina with a customs office | Transit log can be opened and closed there on a foreign-flagged boat, an advantage when planning a delivery. |
