Everything on this page comes from our @surveyyat Instagram account: vessels ashore, moisture and thickness readings, sea trials, handover protocols and images from delivery passages. Facebook and YouTube are linked at the foot of the page.
A survey photograph is not a souvenir, it is evidence. Every frame follows a rule: the finding itself close up, the same finding in its place on the boat wide, and where a reading is taken, the instrument screen legible.
Without scale a photograph misleads, a 2 cm crack and a 20 cm crack can look identical. So close-ups carry a rule or an object of known size beside them.
Which Frames Are Taken?
| Area | Frames | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Underwater hull | General view, antifouling condition, anode consumption, seacocks, propeller and shaft | None of it is visible again until the next lift-out |
| Moisture map | Reading points and the instrument screen; dry reference beside the suspect area | So the difference can be read, not just a single figure |
| Hull-to-deck joint | The joint line, around chainplates, hatch and window edges | Where water ingress most often begins |
| Rig | Terminal roots under magnification, mast step, spreaders, furling gear | Failure almost always starts at a terminal |
| Engine space | General layout, leak traces, belts and hoses, exhaust run, thermal image | A heating connection shows before it fails |
| Electrical panel | Labelling, protective ratings, cable order, thermal scan under load | A loose terminal is the first step towards a fire |
| Bilge | Dry or wet, pump and alarm, any leak trace | The most honest account of a boat's maintenance history |
| Interior | Stains and damp marks, joinery condition, upholstery, around hatches | The source of a stain is usually on deck, not on the ceiling |
Where Photographs Sit in the Report
- Beside each finding. Photographs are not gathered into an appendix; they sit with the text, so what they show is clear.
- Date and conditions recorded. How many days the boat has been ashore, the weather and temperature at the time, moisture values mean nothing without them.
- Limitations are shown too. Where an area could not be reached, the photograph shows why.
- Archived for 24 months. Report and photographs are kept, so the record is there if a question arises later.
