Buyer's
Representation

Buying a boat looks technical; it is really elimination. What is lost mostly goes into attention spent on the wrong boats.‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌

Buying a boat looks like a technical decision. It is really a process of elimination: hundreds of listings, dozens of candidates, a few serious options and finally one boat. What is lost along the way, time and money both, mostly goes into attention spent on the wrong boats.‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌

Buyer's representation is running that elimination alongside you, from listing search to the negotiating table.

Whose side we are on: the buyer's only. We take no commission from sellers, brokers or yards. Having no interest in the boat we find, saying "don't buy this one" costs us nothing, and that is often where we create the most value.

The Process

#StageWhat happens
1Defining the needWhere, with whom and how many days will you use her; is the budget purchase only or does it include the first season; which compromises are acceptable
2Candidate profileLength, type, age range, material and equipment level, derived from the need, not from the listings
3SearchListings in Türkiye and, where useful, neighbouring markets; a shortlist
4Remote eliminationAppraisal from photographs, video and documents; questions for the seller
5Seeing themPreliminary inspection on serious candidates; deciding which deserves a survey
6SurveyFull pre-purchase survey and sea trial
7Negotiation supportFindings costed item by item; an offer structured around three options
8TransferContract clauses, document checklist, transfer day and handover record

Frequently Asked Questions

They are different roles. A broker represents the seller and is paid from the sale, that is the ordinary way the trade works. A buyer's representative acts for the buyer and has done the job even if no sale happens, which makes it easy to say “this one does not suit you”. On most purchases the two work alongside each other.
As a fixed consultancy fee, stated in writing beforehand. We do not take a percentage of the boat's price, that would create an incentive to recommend expensive boats.
Usually one to three months. What governs it is not the speed of finding candidates but the clarity of the need.
It does. Elimination and reporting are done remotely; you travel only for serious candidates or the sea trial.
Yes, if you want. If you prefer a different surveyor that is no problem, the rest of the process runs the same way.
