Yacht Survey & Delivery
Yalova, Turkey
Buying a boat in Yalova? We plan the haul-out, drying time and sea trial in one schedule and deliver an English report in 2-3 working days. Areas: Setur Yalova Marina, Yalova shipyard zone, Çınarcık, Armutlu.
The survey follows the same steps here: appointment, haul-out, moisture and sounding readings, a sea trial if needed, then a 70+ page photo report. Details: How the survey process works →
Surveying in Yalova: marina, haul-out and local points
Setur Yalova Marina in the town centre is the main marina on the Sea of Marmara outside İstanbul, and haul-outs are done there. The nearby Yalova shipyard zone is busy with new-build and refit work.
Haul-out
| Facility | Haul-out | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Setur Yalova Marina | 100-tonne travel lift | About 240 berths afloat, 80 ashore; up to 30 m |
Capacities as of September 2026. The boat's weight, beam and draught are sent to the facility in writing before the appointment. All marinas are in the marina and boatyard directory.
What we look at closely here
South-westerly and north-easterly gales. Marmara gales leave marks on berthed boats. We look at fender and topside chafe, worn lines and the deck fittings around the cleats.
Boats fresh from the yard. On a boat just out of new-build or refit we check the work against the specification before acceptance; see refit consultancy.
Planning
For moisture readings the boat must be ashore and drying for at least one week; we book the haul-out with the facility. The travel charge is €150, shown as a separate line in the quote; the survey calculator gives an estimate.

Getting to know Yalova
Boats in the area
Yalova is a short ferry ride from İstanbul, so many boats at the marina belong to İstanbul owners who come at weekends. Motor yachts and mid-size sailing yachts dominate. Because the shipyard zone is close, we also see boats brought here for maintenance or refit; before a purchase we ask who did the latest work and to what scope, and compare it with the invoices.
Marmara water and anodes
Surface water in the Sea of Marmara is less salty than in the Aegean. This affects anode choice directly: an anode chosen for full-salt water may not protect as expected here. We check how far the anodes have wasted, look for corrosion around the shaft, propeller and saildrive, and measure protection with a zinc reference electrode. Mussels and shell fouling grow fast in the Marmara, so seawater intakes and the cooling circuit are checked separately.
Season and lay-up
In the Marmara boats often winter afloat, and south-westerly and north-easterly gales strain lines, cleats and fenders. Boats that are hauled out usually change hands in autumn and spring. Because the boat must dry ashore for at least one week before moisture readings, winter surveys are planned around the weather.
Common routes
Boats bought in Yalova usually go to İstanbul marinas, the Princes' Islands or the Marmara islands. Boats heading for the Aegean pass through the Dardanelles, planned around current and shipping. A survey before such a delivery assesses the engine, cooling, fuel system and steering for the long passage.
Practical notes for buyers
For buyers coming from İstanbul, survey day can be planned around ferry times. The haul-out is done in the morning, the boat dries for at least a week, and moisture readings and the underwater inspection are completed at the end of that period. A calm morning is chosen for the sea trial, with engine, gearbox, steering and electronics measured under load.
Service, parts and logistics
Trades and service
The Yalova shipyard zone is busy with new-build and refit work, and the marina has maintenance and repair workshops. General jobs such as machining, welding, hydraulic hoses and upholstery can be done in the city's industrial area.
Parts, materials and accessories
Parts and chandlery usually arrive quickly from İstanbul.
Travel and logistics
İstanbul's airports are reached by ferry or by road over the Osmangazi Bridge. Close to the Yalova shipyard zone, parts and labour draw on İstanbul’s wide supply network within a few hours; major repairs are usually solved on the spot.
Repair planning
If you want a recommendation for repairing a finding, we can suggest trades; the work is invoiced directly to you, and we never sell repairs on a boat we surveyed. If a repair depends on parts, the lead time is added to the haul-out and delivery schedule.

Yes. In a pre-delivery or post-refit acceptance check we inspect the work item by item against the specification and quote; missing or faulty items can be sent to the yard as a photographed list.
Along with the pre-purchase survey, the anodes, cooling system and seawater intakes should be checked and the boat prepared for the Dardanelles and open-water legs. We can plan the delivery too.
