Surveying in Mersin: marina, haul-out and local points
Boats in Mersin mostly lie at Mersin Marina in the city, where haul-outs are also done. It is a large-capacity marina in the eastern Mediterranean, suited to hauling bigger boats.

What we look at closely here
Warm water and fouling. Fouling grows fast in the warm eastern Mediterranean. At haul-out we assess antifouling, anodes, propeller and shaft separately.
Commercial traffic. The nearby commercial port brings heavy anchored-ship traffic. It is taken into account for sea trials.
Planning
For moisture readings the boat must be ashore and drying for at least one week; we book the haul-out with the facility. The travel charge is €260, shown as a separate line in the quote; the survey calculator gives an estimate.

Only harbours that take yachts are listed; places suited only to small boats are left out. The draught limit allows about half a metre under the keel at the shallowest berth; a length limit is given where the source states one. Space varies by season, so call the harbour operator before arriving, especially in summer. The afloat parts of a survey can be done in these harbours; the underwater hull needs a separate haul-out.
Getting to know Mersin
Boats in the area
Mersin Marina is in the city and is one of the eastern Mediterranean's large-capacity marinas. Motor yachts, sport-fishing boats and boats running to Cyprus stand out. Mild winters mean year-round use, which can push engine hours up faster than in other regions.
Warm water and fouling
Fouling grows fast in the warm eastern Mediterranean. At haul-out we assess antifouling, anode wastage, propeller, shaft and seawater intakes separately. On boats left long without cleaning, cooling-circuit blockage and engine temperature are measured on the sea trial.
Hauling larger boats
The marina's travel lift capacity suits larger boats in the region. For big boats, the haul-out appointment, blocking and drying time are planned ahead; for moisture readings the boat must dry ashore for at least one week.
Common routes
From Mersin boats mostly go to Taşucu, İskenderun and Cyprus; westbound, long legs towards Antalya are planned. Ships anchor off the nearby commercial port, so sea trial routes are drawn around that traffic.
Practical notes for buyers
On larger motor yachts in Mersin, generator, air conditioning, watermaker and hydraulic systems make up a large share of running costs. We measure these systems while running and look for hot spots with a thermal camera. Since auxiliary systems can cost as much as the engine, their shortfalls get their own heading in the report.
