Yacht Survey
Kaş, Turkey
Buying a boat in Kaş? We plan the haul-out, drying time and sea trial in one schedule and deliver an English report in 2-3 working days. Areas: Setur Kaş Marina, Kalkan, Kekova, Üçağız.
The survey follows the same steps here: appointment, haul-out, moisture and sounding readings, a sea trial if needed, then a 70+ page photo report. Details: How the survey process works →
Surveying in Kaş: marina, haul-out and local points
Most boats in Kaş lie at Setur Kaş Marina, where haul-outs are also done. It is a sheltered marina that many owners also use for winter lay-up.
Haul-out
| Facility | Haul-out | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Setur Kaş Marina | 100-tonne travel lift | 472 berths afloat, 160 ashore |
Capacities as of September 2026. The boat's weight, beam and draught are sent to the facility in writing before the appointment. All marinas are in the marina and boatyard directory.
What we look at closely here
Paperwork. With Kastellorizo close by, foreign-flagged boats are common here. The transit log and flag papers are checked against the boat before the survey; see the transit log guide.
Planning
For moisture readings the boat must be ashore and drying for at least one week; we book the haul-out with the facility. The travel charge is €150, shown as a separate line in the quote; the survey calculator gives an estimate.

Harbours that take yachts
| Harbour | Depth | Berthing and facilities | For yachts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kaş municipal harbour | 5-8 m | Inside the breakwater in front of the town; about 80 yachts berth and 20 visitors are accepted, some berths on lazy lines. Busy with dive, trip and fishing boats; a small slipway for small boats at the end. | Draught up to about 4.5 m. |
| Kalkan harbour (Kaş) | 5-9 m | About 75 boats, 30 visitor berths; no lazy lines. Run by the municipality; sheltered from the south, with occasional gusts off the mountains. VHF 16. | Draught up to about 4.5 m. |
Only harbours that take yachts are listed; places suited only to small boats are left out. The draught limit allows about half a metre under the keel at the shallowest berth; a length limit is given where the source states one. Space varies by season, so call the harbour operator before arriving, especially in summer. The afloat parts of a survey can be done in these harbours; the underwater hull needs a separate haul-out.
Getting to know Kaş
Boats in the area
Kaş sits mid-way along the Lycian coast and has a sheltered marina on the long stretch between Fethiye and Kemer. Local and foreign sailing yachts, motor yachts and long-distance cruisers wintering here share the marina. Day-trip boats to Kekova are also an important part of the area.
Long-distance cruisers
Cruisers wintering in Kaş often carry added equipment: solar panels, watermakers, extra battery banks and inverters. We check installation quality, cable sizes, fusing and battery health, measuring with a true RMS clamp meter and a battery tester.
Heat and sun
Summers here are long and hot. Sun wears gelcoat, canvas, lines, windows and deck coverings; high engine-room temperatures age hoses and seals. We use a thermal camera to look for hot spots on the engine and electrical panel.
Common routes
From Kaş boats mostly go to Kalkan, Kekova, Finike and Fethiye. Kastellorizo lies just across the water; for foreign-flagged boats the transit log and clearance are planned ahead. On westbound passages the summer wind direction is built into the leg plan.
Practical notes for buyers
Owners of boats staying long in Kaş are often abroad, so the seller may not be aboard on survey day. Keys, papers and haul-out permission are then arranged with the marina in advance. Checking battery and fuel status before the survey avoids delays in running the engine and systems.
Deep bays and ground tackle
Bays around Kaş are deep, so anchoring needs long chain and a strong windlass. We have the chain run out to check rust and wear, measure the windlass current draw and check locker drainage. On long-distance cruisers the spare anchor and rode are noted too.
Service, parts and logistics
Trades and service
Basic maintenance is done in Setur Kaş Marina's hardstanding; major work is planned in Fethiye, Göcek or Antalya.
Parts, materials and accessories
Parts and materials come from Antalya or Fethiye.
Travel and logistics
Dalaman and Antalya airports are used. Service in Kaş is limited; specialist work is solved in Finike and Antalya, with parts from there or İstanbul. Finike is the nearest haul-out option.
Repair planning
If you want a recommendation for repairing a finding, we can suggest trades; the work is invoiced directly to you, and we never sell repairs on a boat we surveyed. If a repair depends on parts, the lead time is added to the haul-out schedule.

Surveying in Kaş
Setur Kaş Marina: 100-tonne travel lift.
Yes, €150. It is added to the survey fee as its own line in the written quote; the survey calculator shows it in the estimate.
No. Our skippered deliveries run along the coast between Istanbul and Fethiye; in Kaş we carry out surveys.
Have it surveyed while ashore and review the photographed findings in the report. If you wish, we go through the report together and separate the items to use in negotiation.
Yes. Heavy use wears engine hours, steering and shaft gear, deck equipment and interiors faster; these are assessed separately.
Haul-outs peak in autumn as boats go into lay-up and in spring as they prepare for the season. Booking early in these periods makes it easier to fit drying time and the sea trial into the same week.
