Surveying in Finike: marina, haul-out and local points

What we look at closely here

Long lay-ups. Mild winters mean many boats stay here for long periods with little use. On a lightly used engine we check the cooling system, water and sediment in the fuel tank, seals and hoses closely.

Long spells under covers. A boat wintering under covers can trap damp and mould. We look for mould inside, swollen wooden trim and oxidised electrical connections, and note gelcoat wear where the covers rub.

Planning

For moisture readings the boat must be ashore and drying for at least one week; we book the haul-out with the facility. The travel charge is €170, shown as a separate line in the quote; the survey calculator gives an estimate.

Getting to know Finike

Boats in the area

With mild winters and a marina in the middle of town, Finike is a favourite for boats staying long. Foreign owners wintering here, liveaboard crews and cruisers preparing for the eastern Mediterranean give the area its character.

Signs of living aboard

Liveaboard boats often carry extra electrical loads, watermakers, heaters and galley equipment. We check that these additions were made correctly for gas and electrical safety, ventilation and cable routing. Shortfalls in the gas installation are listed as a separate item and the work is coordinated with a gas fitter.

Lightly used engines

On boats that sit for long, the engine runs little. Common findings are deposits in the cooling circuit, water and microbial growth in the fuel tank, dried-out impellers and hardened hoses. We start the engine from cold and take vibration and temperature readings at working temperature. Common routes

From Finike boats mostly go to Kaş, Kemer and Antalya; Kekova and Demre are close. For boats heading to Cyprus or the eastern Mediterranean, engine, fuel and electronics preparation for the long leg is planned together.

Practical notes for buyers

Some boats for sale in Finike have been their owners' homes for years. We inspect interior changes, added lockers and any new through-hull openings; every fitting below the waterline is checked for valve and clip condition. Holes added to the hull later are noted separately in the report.

Antalya Airport is used. Finike Marina has haul-out and maintenance facilities; parts arrive from Antalya within a day, specialist gear from İstanbul. Finike is a common wintering base.
