Yacht Survey & Delivery
Datça, Turkey
Buying a boat in Datça? We plan the haul-out, drying time and sea trial in one schedule and deliver an English report in 2-3 working days. Areas: Kairos Marina (Körmen), Datça town, bays towards Bozburun.
The survey follows the same steps here: appointment, haul-out, moisture and sounding readings, a sea trial if needed, then a 70+ page photo report. Details: How the survey process works →
Surveying in Datça: marina, haul-out and local points
In Datça, haul-outs are done at Kairos Marina in Körmen on the north side of the peninsula. The marina is exposed to the meltemi; for boats in Datça town and the bays the survey starts on site.
Haul-out
| Facility | Haul-out | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Kairos Marina (Körmen) | Travel lift on site; published capacity varies between 70 and 100 tonnes, confirmed before booking | Also the Datça-Bodrum ferry port |
Capacities as of September 2026. The boat's weight, beam and draught are sent to the facility in writing before the appointment. All marinas are in the marina and boatyard directory.
What we look at closely here
Meltemi. The north-westerly blows hard all summer. We look for line and fender wear and strain at the bow and stern fittings.
Salt and stainless. On the windy peninsula salt builds up on deck. We look for pitting and tea staining on stainless fittings, winches, blocks and clutches with a magnifier, and check for water ingress around deck penetrations with a moisture meter.
Planning
For moisture readings the boat must be ashore and drying for at least one week; we book the haul-out with the facility. The travel charge is €100, shown as a separate line in the quote; the survey calculator gives an estimate.

Getting to know Datça
Boats in the area
The Datça peninsula runs between the Gulf of Gökova and the Hisarönü gulf and is a key part of the Blue Voyage. Sailing yachts, charter boats and gulets are common. The Bozburun side is known for wooden boat and gulet building; on wooden boats moisture mapping and rot sounding with a phenolic hammer are at the centre of the survey.
Wind and berthing
The peninsula sits in the meltemi all summer. The Körmen side, where Kairos Marina lies, is exposed to wind; on berthed boats we look for line and fender wear and strain at bow and stern fittings. On windy days the sea trial is planned around the weather.
Boats with a charter past
Some boats sold around Datça have a charter history. On these we assess engine hours, sail and rig fatigue, heads and water systems, interior wear and repair records separately. A charter past is not bad in itself; what matters is whether maintenance was regular.
Common routes
From Datça boats mostly go to Bodrum, Marmaris, Bozburun and Knidos. Greek islands such as Symi, Rhodes and Kos are close; for boats leaving the country, papers and the port of exit are planned ahead. In meltemi season, northbound legs allow for sailing upwind.
Practical notes for buyers
Boats in Datça work hard in summer, and more come on the market at season's end. On end-of-season purchases we look closely at sails and rig: shroud tension is measured with a Loos gauge, and terminals are checked for cracks and corrosion with a magnifier. Sail stitching, UV strips and tears are photographed for the report.
Service, parts and logistics
Trades and service
Basic maintenance can be done at Kairos Marina's yard; major work is planned in Marmaris or Bodrum. Wooden-boat craftsmen work on the Bozburun side.
Parts, materials and accessories
Parts and materials come from Marmaris and Bodrum.
Travel and logistics
Dalaman and Milas-Bodrum airports are used, and a Bodrum-Datça ferry runs. Local service in Datça is limited; specialist work is usually done in Marmaris or Bodrum, with parts from there or İstanbul. Marmaris is the nearest haul-out option.
Repair planning
If you want a recommendation for repairing a finding, we can suggest trades; the work is invoiced directly to you, and we never sell repairs on a boat we surveyed. If a repair depends on parts, the lead time is added to the haul-out and delivery schedule.
