Surveying in Dikili: harbour, haul-out and local points
There is no marina in Dikili; boats lie in the fishing harbour in the town centre and at anchorages nearby. Our business address is in Dikili, so boats around Dikili, Çandarlı and the Bergama coast are close at hand. For larger boats the haul-out is usually planned at Setur Ayvalık Marina, 21 nautical miles north.
Haul-out
| Facility | Haul-out | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Dikili fishing harbour | No haul-out facility; berthing and survey afloat | Survey starts afloat; haul-out site chosen together |
| Setur Ayvalık Marina (21 NM north) | 110-tonne travel lift | Nearest large haul-out facility |
Capacities as of September 2026. The boat's weight, beam and draught are sent to the facility in writing before the appointment. All marinas are in the marina and boatyard directory.
What we look at closely here
North-easterly wind. The prevailing wind is north-easterly. On a long-berthed boat we check the bow fittings, chain locker and windlass closely.
Winter lay-up. Boats here often winter ashore. We check deck fittings and the mast step for water ingress with moisture readings.
Planning
For moisture readings the boat must be ashore and drying for at least one week; we book the haul-out with the facility. There is no travel charge in Dikili; the survey calculator gives an estimate.

Harbours that take yachts
| Harbour | Depth | Berthing and facilities | For yachts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dikili fishing harbour | 4-5 m | Boats go stern-to on anchor at the quay inside the main breakwater; 6-7 berths are kept for visiting boats, and the harbour is narrow and busy. Water and electricity available, fuel by tanker. Dikili is a port of entry with customs. | Draught up to about 3.5 m. |
| Eski Foça | 3-5 m at the quay | Well sheltered; boats berth on lazy lines. Water and electricity available; the town has engine, electrical and wood craftsmen and a slipway yard. | Draught up to about 2.5 m. |
| Oasis Marina, Yeni Foça | Marina berthing boats of 8-30 m on lazy lines, with a port of entry. | Boats from 8 to 30 m. | |
| Alibey (Cunda) harbour, Ayvalık | 2-3 m | Lazy lines for visiting yachts and a slipway yard hauling boats up to 25 m. For draughts over 2 m, depth is confirmed in advance. | Draught up to about 2 m; confirm ahead if deeper. |
| Çandarlı | 4-8 m at anchor | Çandarlı's fishing harbour is too shallow for yachts. Boats anchor in the bay east of the town, or go stern-to at the town quay to the west in suitable weather. | The harbour is too shallow for yachts; lie at anchor in 4-8 m on the east side. |
Only harbours that take yachts are listed; places suited only to small boats are left out. The draught limit allows about half a metre under the keel at the shallowest berth; a length limit is given where the source states one. Space varies by season, so call the harbour operator before arriving, especially in summer. The afloat parts of a survey can be done in these harbours; the underwater hull needs a separate haul-out.
Getting to know Dikili and its coast
Boats in the area
Along the Dikili and Çandarlı coast you find leisure boats, fishing-style motor boats and sailing yachts cruising the North Aegean. Being close to İzmir and Ayvalık, the area is a stopover for boats sailing north and south. With such varied histories, learning how a boat has been used tells us where to focus the inspection.
What being close means
Our business address is in Dikili, so we reach local boats quickly. This helps surveys that need a few days between haul-out, drying and sea trial: we can return for readings as the boat dries.
Season and lay-up
The North Aegean winter is wet and windy, with north-easterlies prevailing. Boats mostly winter ashore. On a boat laid up ashore we look for water ingress at deck fittings, window seals and the mast step, and check how the bilge, batteries and engine were prepared for winter.
Common routes
From Dikili boats mostly go to Ayvalık, Foça and İzmir. Lesbos lies across the water; on foreign-flagged boats the transit log and flag papers are checked before purchase. If the boat is heading south, the delivery is planned around North Aegean wind patterns.
Practical notes for buyers
Some boats listed in Dikili have sat in the same place afloat or ashore for years. On a long-idle boat we start the engine from cold and look for water and sediment in the fuel tank; bilge pumps, float switches and the battery bank are tested one by one. These items drive the cost of recommissioning and are useful in negotiation.
Service, parts and logistics
Trades and service
Yacht-specific service is limited in Dikili; major repairs are planned at the Ayvalık marina workshops or with services in İzmir. In Çandarlı, engine and electrical mechanics work in the industrial area behind the beach; Eski Foça has engine, electrical and wood craftsmen and a yard that hauls boats on a slipway.
Parts, materials and accessories
Parts and materials arrive quickly from İzmir.
Travel and logistics
İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport is reached by road. Parts sent by courier are collected in Dikili town; the harbour is in the town centre.
Repair planning
If you want a recommendation for repairing a finding, we can suggest trades; the work is invoiced directly to you, and we never sell repairs on a boat we surveyed. If a repair depends on parts, the lead time is added to the haul-out and delivery schedule.
