Distances are marina to marina along the shortest safe sea route around land and shoals. On a real passage weather, choice of shelter and traffic can add around 5 percent. Times are hours under way only; days and cost at 8 hours a day are shown in the delivery cost calculator.

2. Where you leave from changes the distance

A boat leaving from inside the Gulf of İzmir (Levent Marina, Alsancak, Karşıyaka) has to run the length of the gulf and round Karaburun before heading south. That is why İzmir to Bodrum is 170 miles, Çeşme to Bodrum 109 miles, and Teos Marina in Seferihisar to Bodrum only 94 miles.

3. The Gulf of İzmir and the Karaburun passage

Off the Gediz delta on the north side of the gulf the water is shallow; boats keep to the marked deep-water line. On summer afternoons the westerly imbat breeze builds a short, steep sea inside the gulf, so an early morning departure is usually the most comfortable.

Between Cape Karaburun and the Chios Strait the northerly wind and current strengthen together. This leg is timed around the daily wind cycle, with Çeşme and Mordoğan as intermediate shelters in strong weather.‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌

4. Winter lay-up and yard deliveries

In autumn many İzmir boats are moved to Teos Marina or to yards further south to be hauled for the winter, and in spring the launched boat is brought back to its berth. These short legs get the same preparation and photo handover record. Lay-up planning: winter lay-up delivery.

5. Leaving from Foça, Dikili and the north of the gulf

For boats north of İzmir the usual departure point is Oasis Marina in Yeni Foça, which has fuel and a 110 t travel lift, so the boat can be hauled and its bottom cleaned before departure if needed. At the municipal yacht harbour in Eski Foça boats lie on lazy lines; leaving the mooring and calling at Yeni Foça for fuel are planned together.

Heading north to Ayvalık and Çanakkale, Foça and Dikili are the natural stops: Foça to Ayvalık is about 40 nautical miles, Dikili to Ayvalık about 24. If a foreign-flagged boat needs to clear in or out, the port is added to the passage plan; our deliveries stay on the Turkish coast.

6. Departure windows by season

7. If you have bought a boat in İzmir

Planning the pre-purchase survey and the delivery together means the condition of the boat on survey day is on record before the passage. Survey: yacht survey İzmir.

9. How the price is set

The fee depends on the distance, the length and type of the boat, the crew and the season. Fuel, marina costs and the skipper's return travel are separate items in the quote. Pick your route in the delivery cost calculator for an instant estimate.‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌
