Sirena is the Turkish motor yacht brand built at its yard in Bursa, with designs by world-renowned designer Germán Frers.
1. Getting to Know Sirena
Its models, which put seakeeping and long-passage comfort first, have found a place on the international market.
As one of the brands carrying Turkish yards' claim to quality and design to the world, it has special meaning in Turkish waters.
2. Comfort on long passages
Sirena models are designed for seakeeping and comfort on long passages; on survey the systems behind that character come first: stabilisers where fitted, generator, air-conditioning, tanks and fuel systems.
On the sea trial, behaviour in a seaway, vibration and noise levels are measured too.
3. Points We Pay Attention To
These are not claims of defects. They are the places we spend extra time on boats of this make; every boat is judged on its own use and maintenance history.
Sirena models
- Stabilisers where fitted, and their service record.
- Shaft line, seals and cutless bearings.
- Generator, air-conditioning and fresh-water systems.
- Glazing and hardtop joints.
- Vibration and noise measurements on the sea trial.
4. Owning One in Turkey
With the yard in Turkey, the build file and technical support are easier to reach.
Ask for the service records, invoices and any earlier survey report before the survey; work without records is noted as "could not be verified".
5. What we measure on a Sirena sea trial
A Sirena's long-passage character turns the sea trial into more than a quick run. We start from a cold engine and plan at least half an hour underway, because what matters is how the systems behave once they are hot.
- Rpm-to-speed curve for each engine, and whether the builder's rated full-load rpm is reached.
- Exhaust, raw-water and gearbox oil temperatures, with a thermal-camera scan of risers and manifolds.
- Decibel readings in cabins and saloon; telling shaft-line vibration apart from engine-mount vibration.
- Roll behaviour with stabilisers on and off where fitted; generator under load, air-conditioning at full capacity.
6. Documents to ask for before you buy
With the yard in Turkey, many documents can be obtained through the seller or directly. Ask for these before booking the survey:
- Builder's plate details, CE declaration of conformity and the handover file.
- Engine, generator and stabiliser service invoices; the latest oil analysis if there is one.
- A list of warranty work and the correspondence that closed it.
- Any earlier survey report and the insurance claims history.
