Survey quotes that differ by a factor of two are not unusual. To see where the difference comes from, look at the items that make up the price one by one. The rates below are the same ones the site's calculator uses.
Survey price range
The bands come from the survey calculator's own rates: lowest to highest fee in the Bodrum area, from a new boat to one over 15 years old. The exact figure depends on length, type, age and where the boat lies. All prices are exclusive of 20% VAT.

| 20-30 ft (6.1-9.1 m) | €450-€850 | €600-€1,100 | €700-€1,350 | 1.5 days |
| 31-40 ft (9.4-12.2 m) | €700-€1,150 | €900-€1,450 | €1,100-€1,800 | 1.5 days |

Seven things that set the price
- 1. Length
- The base unit is length: €22.50 per foot. Longer boats mean more surface, more systems and more time on site: under 40 ft takes 1.5 days, 41-55 ft 2 days, over 55 ft 2.5 days.
- 2. Boat type
- Sailing yacht 1.0, motor yacht 1.3, catamaran 1.6. A motor yacht has an engine room, generator and more systems; a catamaran has two hulls, two engines and a bridgedeck.
- 3. Age
- 0-5 years 1.0, 6-15 years 1.1, over 15 years 1.25. Older boats need longer on the moisture map, laminate and installations.
- 4. Location
- No travel charge in the İzmir area (İzmir, Çeşme, Urla, Foça), the Bodrum area or Ayvalık. Elsewhere €40 to €350 is added: Kuşadası €40, Marmaris €100, Göcek €120, Istanbul €180.
- 5. Scope
- Out of water, afloat, or full. A full survey covers readings ashore and the sea trial; it is what we recommend before a purchase.
- 6. Add-ons
- Compression and blowby with an independent engine technician, €400-750 per engine. A diver's underwater check where the boat cannot be hauled, €150.
- 7. Boat-side costs
- Haul-out, crane, hardstanding and sea trial fuel are invoiced by the marina or the boat. They appear on a separate line and are not part of the survey fee.
Worked example
A 40 ft, 12-year-old sailing yacht in Marmaris: 40 × 22.5 × 1.0 × 1.1 = €990; with the €100 travel charge, €1,090, rounded to €1,100. Adding compression and blowby on one engine brings it to €1,500. Haul-out and crane are not included; they are paid to the marina.
What to check in a quote
- Is the scope in writing? Out of water, afloat or full, with the systems to be measured listed.
- What is the report like? Page count, photographs, reading tables and how findings are graded. Ours runs to 70+ pages with A, B and C grades.
- Delivery time: 2-3 working days.
- Are exclusions listed separately? Haul-out, travel and add-ons should be spelled out.
Scope: The survey is non-destructive and nothing is dismantled; details on the survey types page.
If you are looking at several boats
Most buyers compare several boats before deciding. A full survey on each is costly and unnecessary. At that stage a remote pre-assessment helps: a short review of the listing, photos, videos and documents shows which boat is worth visiting. If a full survey of the same boat follows within 60 days, the pre-assessment fee is deducted from the survey fee.
Have this ready before asking for a quote
- Make, model, year and length.
- The marina, and whether the boat can be hauled.
- The scope you want: ashore, afloat or full.
- Whether you want compression and blowby readings.
- Any deadline set by the seller.

Notes from the field
- The item most often missed in a quote is the haul-out. The marina invoices the lift and hardstanding separately; check the cost with them before the survey date.
- If you are looking at several boats, ask for a remote pre-assessment first. From listing photos and documents it is often possible to rule out boats that are not worth the trip.
- If you want compression and blow-by tests on the engine, say so before the date is fixed so we can book the independent engine technician for the same day.
